New York IT CTO Aleem Quadri Attends Dell Storage Forum in Orlando

The growth of digital data is accelerating at an unprecedented, virtually incomprehensible rate.  Eric Schmidt, the former Chairmen of Google said “There were 5 exabytes of information created between the dawn of civilization through 2003, but that much information is now created every 2 days, and the pace is increasing.” One study estimates that current global storage capacity is around 295 exabytes and growing at a rate of 58% per year.  An Exabyte is one billion gigabytes!

Record keeping of all types – medical data including scans and document images, government compliance data including HIPAA, Sorbanes-Oxley and SEC Rule 17a, and even tax recording keeping for small business – all demand increasing amounts of readily accessible data storage.  The ability of companies of all sizes to capture, store, retrieve, and backup, this ever growing amount of data is becoming increasingly more important and more difficult to manage.

Stemp’s Chief Technology Officer, Aleem Quadri, is currently attending the Dell Storage Forum 2011 to learn how to leverage the full potential of new technologies in order to tackle this challenge on behalf of our clients.  Dell is a major manufacturer of storage area network (SAN) technology targeted at the small and medium sized business and medical community.  Its storage products portfolio includes EqualLogic, Compellent, and PowerVault brands.  SANs are the core building blocks of a virtual server solution, where reliability, flexibility and performance are critical.  SANs and virtualization are also key components in an effective disaster plan as described in our case study Virtualization as a vital component of disaster planning.

This five day forum, taking place in Orlando, started on June 5, 2011 with an agenda structured to provide an intensive educational experience with instructor-led training, hands-on technical labs, and 110 breakout sessions. “The growth of our clients’ data and corresponding SAN technology is increasing so fast.  I just can’t sleep”, said Aleem.  “I have to keep up with the latest!” he exclaims.  “Stemp believes in matching the most appropriate technology with our clients’ current and future requirements and budget” says Morris Stemp, CEO of Stemp Systems.  “How can we claim to do that without educating ourselves in all the nuances of the latest technologies?”

Stemp has been a Dell Reseller since 1994 and a Dell Enterprise Partner since 2003.  We have installed and currently support over 20 Dell SAN devices in VMware environments throughout our real estate, legal, financial, and medical client base. In addition, Stemp has recently invested extensively to develop a cloud hosting infrastructure to offer hosted email, server and desktop services to our clients based on Dell SAN technology.  Following our mantra of “practicing what we preach”, Stemp’s internal production network includes 4 Dell 810 VMware host servers connected to a 48 Terabyte Dell EqualLogic SAN.

Aleem has over 10 years experience in systems administration, user support, technical training, and disaster recovery. Since 1993, Aleem has been an instructor in over 100 technical training courses in both India and the United States.  Born in Hyderabad, India, he received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science & Engineering from Bangalore University.  Before coming to the United States and joining Stemp, Aleem worked as a systems engineer for 2 major global organizations with headquarters in the Middle East.  Aleem has earned a number of systems and storage related certifications including: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT), Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS), Dell EqualLogic Certified Engineer, Dell Enterprise Architect Specialist and VMware Technical Sales Professional (VTSP).  Aleem also holds Cisco and Sonicwall certifications.
